Our Lessons
Lessons may be held in English or in Spanish.
How are lessons held?
New students
Children take 4 lessons a week (Monday through Thursday), for 10 minutes each; personalized lessons (one instructor per child). With this frequency, and a constancy commitment, kids learn the technique in approximately 5 to 6 weeks.
Mom and/or Dad are invited to come in the water the first days so the child will have a fun time relating to the instructor. After a bond between the instructor and the child is formed, the child comes in alone.
When the child has completed his learning, Mom and/or Dad are invited in the water again to understand what the child has learned.
INTENSIVE METHOD: Your child can take 2 lessons a day with a minimum break of one hour in between lessons. The child will learn the technique in half the estimated time of a regular course.
Returning students
It is very important to keep practicing after finishing the first course. It is required to return every Friday for group or individual sessions (depending on the child's age), where the child will continue practicing and developing a better technique.
What do they learn?
Safety first, then fun!
Safety in and around water is our main concern.
Infants 6 to 12 months (aprox), learn to:
- Hold their breath in the water.
- Roll on their backs and float fully clothed, after any type of fall in the water.
- Float, relax, breath, and wait for help.
Babies 12 to 24 months (aprox) learn to:
- Hold their breath in the water.
- Roll on their backs and float fully clothed, after any type of fall in the water.
- Float, relax, breath, and wait for help.
- Swim short distances and reach the edge of the pool.
- If out of breath while swimming; roll on their backs and float.
Toddlers 2yrs to children 4 years (aprox) learn to:
- Reach the edge of the pool after any type of fall in the water fully clothed.
- If the edge of the pool is too far away, or clothing is too heavy: float fully clothed on their back and call for help.
- Swim long distances and get to the edge of the pool by kicking their feet face down and rolling over to float face up afterward. This technique is known as "swim, float, swim".
4yrs and older learn to:
- Reach the edge of the pool after any type of fall in the water fully clothed.
- If the edge of the pool is too far away or clothing is too heavy: float fully clothed on their back and call for help.
- Take off their heavy clothes.
- Swim long distances with a more advanced technique (pre strokes).
IF YOU WOULD LIKE ENAI TO VISIT YOUR CITY OR TOWN:
It is possible for an instructor to visit your location for a month and give an intensive course. In these intensive courses, kids take 2 lessons a day (with an hour break between lessons) and learn the technique in half the estimated time of a regular course.
If you live in an area with open water, lessons for older kids will be held at the pool AND also in open water. Older kids learn to react to waves, falling off a boat, etc.
It is required to get a group of 20 kids together, have the right facilities, and cover the instructor's travel expenses. Contact us to learn more.
