Jodi Beard
Hello, my name is Jodi Beard and I am the proud owner of Little Fins. My husband and I reside in Rome, Georgia and have been blessed with two beautiful sons. Since my children were constantly around pools and lakes, I wanted to give them the skills to survive the unthinkable. While researching swim lessons, I learned that most programs teach children to "swim" only for as long as they can hold their breath. Then what?
I discovered Infant Aquatics by chance and was amazed at how much common sense it made. Their philosophy was so different, and the more I learned about the program, the more I wanted to be involved in it. I am now proud to be a certified Infant Aquatic Survival instructor, having spent over 100 hours of intensive hands on training with a master instructor. I have also completed academic study in the areas of child development, behavioral psychology and infant physiology.
At Little Fins we strive to teach the same valuable lessons to our students that our own children have learned. Infants and toddlers learn to swim face down in the water, rotate over onto their backs to rest and breathe, then roll back over to a facedown position and continue this sequence until the ultimate goal is reached – safety. Whether it's attaining the pool edge or steps, or being unable to reach their destination and rolling over to breathe on their back, our students learn lifesaving skills in every lesson. These skills are practiced over and over until they become automatic. This could save your child's life.
My mission is to teach children skills to enable them to survive an accidental encounter with the water. I have heard of countless incidents where children have tragically drowned. One such incident happened in my home town. A couple with a small child bought a new home that had a pool. The parents were so worried about their child drowning that they had the pool filled in to prevent any accidents. Tragically, while on vacation, their child drowned in a hotel pool. Sadly, there are many preventable stories like this.
I am excited to be able to provide this lifesaving service to members of my community and surrounding areas. I invite you to visit our facilities and encourage you to speak with others who are benefiting from our knowledge and expertise. Our goal is to teach your child to survive an aquatic accident, while also learning to enjoy a lifetime of fun in the water.
