Kathleen McMordie, RN
Hello, my name is Kathleen McMordie, and I teach infant aquatic survival in Katy, Texas. I attended Texas Tech University and South Plains College. I graduated with a degree in Nursing. I am a Registered Nurse with experience in Medical/ Surgical Intensive Care and Cardiac Care. I am also a First Aid and Adult/Child/Infant CPR instructor for American Red Cross.
I am a mother of 4, and a homeowner with a backyard swimming pool. All my children learned to swim at an early age through an aquatic survival program, and I was impressed not only with their respect for the water, but their aquatic abilities. Even my youngest, at age 2, was comfortable swimming with her older siblings in our backyard pool. After researching various programs, I made the decision to travel to Dallas in 2004, to train with Beverly Steinfink, AquaTots, and learn to teach infant aquatic survival. I received intensive in-water training as well as academic information to enable me to safely and effectively teach infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers skills that could save their lives.
When I'm not in the water teaching, I spend my free time with my husband and kids. We enjoy Bible study and our church friends, Baylor University and Texas A&M University events, Cinco Ranch High School wrestling and club volleyball.
In joining the Infant Aquatics website, I hope to let more parents in my area know where they can turn when seeking quality swimming instruction using methods that work with even the youngest infant.
I know that I am giving something back to the people of Katy, Houston, and surrounding communities when I hear someone tell me that their child has fallen into the water and saved his own life by floating or swimming to the edge. It is a priceless gift.
