I grew up in Florida with parents that were avid water sports enthusiasts. Water has always been a part of my life. I swam competitively for ten years, spent my summers lifeguarding and teaching Red Cross lessons. When I became pregnant with my son, I knew it was crucial for him to have lifesaving water skills because of my lifestyle, and I began my search for a program that would teach my baby aquatic survival. This led me to ISR.
After 17 years with ISR, as both an instructor and master instructor, it was time for a CHANGE. This decision arose from my involvement with Swim Volusia stroke clinics and my desire to offer a more comprehensive program to my community, encompassing all aspects of aquatics. After leaving ISR, I began a search for alternative swimming programs/organizations that promoted child safety and discovered Child Drowning Prevention along with Infant Aquatics. In order to further my education, I traveled to Boulder, Colorado and participated in an intensive training program with Judy Heumann. The experience was eye opening because it made me realize that I could teach aquatic swimming to infants and small children in a completely different, nurturing, and more effective manner than I ever could imagine. This journey has been truly amazing!
Being a single mother of two teenagers that are avid swimmers who enjoy all water sports, it is wonderful to have them appreciate the lessons that I have been able to teach them. Be it swimming, snorkeling, diving or just playing in and around the water...it is a lifestyle that they will carry with them always and forever! That is why I am so excited to introduce a program that will not only save lives but will go beyond survival and will allow all young families to make water activities a part of their lifestyle too!
