Leslie Harrison

I am Leslie Harrison, the owner of SuperStar Aquatics, a premiere swim school dedicated to teaching infants and children how to survive in the water and to encourage a love of swimming.

My husband Larron and I are Kansas natives; we met each other in junior high (on the school bus). After attending Pittsburg State University, I went from working successfully as an administrative assistant in accounting and customer service, to raising three beautiful boys.

Since I was a little girl, my family and I have always spent vacations and weekends in and around water. We are avid boaters, skiers and recently scuba divers. Knowing the importance of teaching children water survival and swimming, I sought out traditional swim lessons that would arm our boys with the skills necessary to be safe in the water. After investing years in "swim" lessons which produced little results, I was disappointed with the lack of proficiency and false confidence my boys acquired. Realizing they didn't come away with any skills that could save their lives, much less make an afternoon at the pool enjoyable, I became passionate about finding the best way to equip them with the knowledge they would need in order to survive an aquatic accident and to swim effectively.

With the support of my family, I traveled to Colorado to complete the Infant Aquatic Survival intensive six week in water training program, as well as academic coursework to enable me to safely and effectively teach infants and young children lifesaving water skills. Leaving Blake (6), Jace (2.5) and Ty (16 months) for six weeks was the most difficult part of my training experience. During my training, my homesickness was replaced with a sense of accomplishment in being able to provide children with REAL lifesaving skills and to offer families in my community clear expectations of what their children will learn during lessons.

It is so exciting to witness the aquatic learning process! Babies and young children are transformed from being totally helpless in the water into confident, capable swimmers in weeks, not years. The added benefit of increasing self-esteem and independence in children while bringing relief and confidence to parents, not just meeting their expectations, but exceeding them, has been a source of great personal satisfaction to me.

I am certified in adult, child and infant CPR and first aid and a member of United States Swim Schools Association.

Feel free to contact me with any questions and to discover how to give a gift that will last a lifetime... the ability to swim and be safer around the water.
