My name is Margie Williamson. I live in the small town of Devine, TX. I am a mother of three grown children and have one granddaughter and two very active grandsons. As with most children their age, they have no fear of the water which really concerned me. While searching for swim lessons for my grandson I came across the Infant Aquatics website. Since I could find nothing like this offered in the San Antonio or Devine area, I decided to train to become an infant aquatics survival instructor. I can now teach my grandchildren these skills and also provide this valuable service to others in San Antonio and the surrounding Devine area. I have always loved the water and had each of my three children in the water before they could walk. I wish this program would have been around when they were younger.
I hold two Bachelors degrees and a Masters degree and worked for 23 years for the government in the IT field until I retired in 2006. I completed a very rigorous Infant Aquatics training program in Dallas with over 100 hours of in-water training and learning the physiology, psychology, and development of the child between the ages of six months to six years as they apply to swimming and water survival.
As an instructor, I am dedicated to teaching infants and children water safety techniques, confidence, and having fun with aquatic activities while providing them the water safety techniques for their increased activity around the pool or other bodies of water. I am certified in adult, child and infant CPR and First Aid and a certified instructor of Infant Aquatic Survival. I get a lot of satisfaction in seeing my student's progress to the point where you can see in their face that they "get it". I love to see their enjoyment of the water and the self confidence they gain through my training.
As a parent, grandparent and instructor, I urge you to choose a program that will teach your child water safety and survival techniques. One of the leading causes of accidental death in this age group in Texas is drowning. With more and more people getting home pools, parents need to provide their children with water survival techniques, especially if they live or vacation near water. Your child is a precious gift and deserves all the protection you can provide. I would love to help you give your child this gift that will last a lifetime as well as provide you the peace of mind that you have done everything you can to ensure your child an enjoyable yet safe water experience.
