Margie Williamson

Actual letters from friends and parents of students.

After hearing numerous stories of small children wandering into swimming pools and drowning, I sought out some kind of water safety class. I felt so blessed when I learned that Margie Williamson teaches classes in our area and after taking my then 17-month-old son to classes with her, I know what a fabulous asset she is to our community. Within two days Margie had my son holding his breath when going under water and by the end of his lessons he knew to roll over on his back and float no matter the circumstance under which he entered the pool (being flipped in, knocked in, or just plain falling in). Each time he was "let loose" in the pool, he would immediately roll over on his back. This is such a relief for nervous parents and grandparents. Margie was so patient with my son and trust me that was no small feat as he often did not want anything to do with learning to float on his back. I truly believe that this was one of the best things I've ever done for my son and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks Margie!

To whom it may concern,

I started my journey with Infant Aquatics as soon as I learned my husband and I were going to build a house with a pool. Our daughter, Abbey, was only a year old at the time. I had terrible feelings about having a pool. I watched the stories on the news, just like everyone else, about children drowning everywhere from their grandparents' pool to the neighborhood pond. I had to be proactive and started researching what could be done to prevent childhood drowning. One thing that consistently came up was infant survival swim lessons. I emailed Margie almost 6 months before she ever got Abbey in the pool. She took the time to explain the program to me and was very open about her own experiences with her grandchildren. Abbey was around 21 months old when she began the program. She was very timid in the water initially, but Margie's calming effect, along with hugs and reassurance, helped her through it. She progressed rapidly through the weeks and by the end of week 6, could jump in the pool, float on her back to the side, grab the side, and hold on until she worked her way to the steps. I never expected results like that! Now, Abbey is 2 1/2 years old. She has not only retained everything she was taught, but has progressed even further into a full-fledged swimmer! I credit Margie completely. She has given Abbey the lifelong skill of survival in the water. I will always be grateful for that gift!

Sincerely,
Genevieve Skrobanek,
Mom to Abbey, 2 1/2 years old
